A-Z Bookish Survey

paper

Author you’ve read the most books from:
Robert Munsch! I’ve read absolutely every single picture book that he has ever written! He is one author that I don’t think anyone can ever really outgrow! The Paper Bag Princess and I’ll Love You Forever will always be my two favourites though!

B
est Sequel Ever:
Hands down The Reckoning by Alma Katsu!! I loved The Taker, but The Reckoning took things to a whole new level! It was amazing and absolutely genius!

Currently Reading:
Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth. After recenlty watching the TV show I felt inspired to pick up Worth’s memoirs which were was the inspiration for the series. So far its really good!

Drink of Choice While Reading:
Tea of course! I even do the occasional Tea Time post on my blog 🙂 I’m especially addicted to anything from David’s Tea! My favourite blends at the moment are Cream of Earl Grey, Ceylon Star, and Toasted Walnut!

E-Reader or Physical Book?
Physical book! I do use my e-reader occasionally, but nothing compares to the feeling of a real book in your hands!

lola

Fictional Character that You Probably Would Have Actually Dated in High School:
Cricket from Lola and the Boy Next Door! I have a thing for nerdy guys, and Cricket is just plain awesome!

Glad You Gave this Book a Chance:
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss! While I kept hearing only rave reviews for this one, the hefty size intimidated me a bit. Big books usually don’t scare me, but I had so many other books to read too that I was scared too much of my time would be eaten up with this one. Luckily for me I decided to pick it up anyways, and I absolutely flew through the pages! It is so addicting!

Hidden Gem Book:
In the Shadow of the Banyan  by Vaddey Ratner!! This book didn’t get any of the attention that it deserves when it came out! The writing blew me away! It was so beautiful! And the plot brought me to tears in the end.

Important Moment of Your Reading Life:
My first chapter book! I still remember my mom coming home from Coles with a copy of Dinosaurs Before Dawn for me from The Magic Treehouse series. From there I was hooked!

Just Finished:
Big Girl Panties by Stephanie Evanovich. It was good, but I’ve read better chick lit. I give it 3 Stars.

Kind of Books You Won’t Read:
I’m not big on Spy or Legal Thrillers. That doesn’t mean that I will never read any. I just won’t go out of my way to.

Longest Book You’ve Read:
Hmmm…. I think that Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell wins this award! It was over 1,000 pages, but worth every minute that I spent reading it! It ripped my heart apart!

ready

Major Book Hangover Because of:
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I read that book over a month ago and I’m still thinking about it!

Number of Bookcases you own:
Zero. I know. Sad but true. There are two HUGE bookcases in my house but they belong to my Mom (who oddly enough doesn’t read). Instead my books are kept in my closet, and the free space that I can find on my Mom’s bookcase. I can’t wait to move out and have a bookcase of my own!

pride

One Book You’ve Read Multiple Times:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen! I find something new to admire every time that I read it! I think I’ve read it about 4 times now, but it’s due for another reading soon!

Preferred Place to Read:
On the couch in my living room. The couch is actually a bit uncomfortable, but the windows are huge and let in a lot of natural light. Plus, there is a fireplace that makes it nice and cozy in the winter!

Quote that Inspires You:
This quote doesn’t necessarily inspire me, but it had a big impact on me while I was reading. I’ll never forget it: “A half read book is a half finished love affair.”  – Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

Reading Regret:
Skipping over some of my reading in University….Not that I did it very often….but there was at least one reading from each course that I didn’t have time for.  At the time I was overwhelmed with short stories, novels, and poems, but now I miss getting to learn about these beautiful works, and tear them apart with my fellow classmates.

Series You Started and Need To Finish (all books are out):
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I only have the last book left, but I still haven’t gotten around to it yet!

Three of Your All-Favorite Books:
An impossible choice! Here are my picks which I will undoubtably rethink five minutes from now.
1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2. Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

soulless

Unapologetic Fangirl For:
Soulless: The Manga. Whether you like graphic novels or not, I force this book on just about everyone around me!

Very Exited For This Release More Than All the Others:
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I enjoyed Eleanor and Park, but this book sounds right up my ally! Plus, it comes out next Tuesday, so the excitement that has been slowly building all summer is at the erupting point now.

Worst Bookish Habit:
Buying books and then not reading them for over a year. Since becoming a librarian the number of book purchases that I make has decreased 90%, but I still can’t help myself when I come across a good deal. And then I let the books pile up in my closet until they are a mountain!

Your Lastest Book Purchase:
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I got it for $1 at a library book sale up north and it is in absolute perfect condition! I’ve heard great things about this series, but I’ve never read it myself so I couldnt’ resist.

Zzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
Scarlet by A.C. Gaughen!

  1. I love that quote! Also, I think your living room would be fabulous to read in in the winter. I’m inviting myself over for a reading and tea time date sometime if I’m still around 🙂 I haven’t read Outlander yet either! I’ve been meaning to for a million years but just haven’t. The size and number of other books I need to read have kept me from picking it up. I can’t wait for Fangirl either! I don’t think I’m too far down on the list at the library so fingers crossed it doesn’t take forever for it to get to me. Also, and finally, I totally understand your thought on Big Girl Panties. I had fun reading it but there are better books in that genre out there. It was fun to read your survey! 🙂

  2. Loved this! It took me forever to comment (gah!) but I love your answers… of course. Here here for the buying books and not reading them for over a year :|. Also love the David Mitchell quote!

  3. I haven’t read Outlander yet either. But I do have my mom’s copy of it, so hopefully it’s one I’ll finally get to. From everything I’ve heard I really think I’ll enjoy it.
