The TBR Tag!

TBRHello everyone! This past week I was tagged by the lovely Chelsey from Chels and a Book to do the TBR Tag. My “To Be Read” pile is 98% virtual, as I try to get most of my books from the library. Nevertheless, every time I look at my TBR shelf on Goodreads I panic a little bit inside! It’s never ending! Anyways…check out my answers to the TBR Tag questions below!

The TBR Tag

1. How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
One word: Goodreads. I don’t know how I would even begin to manage my TBR list without it!

2. Is your TBR mostly print or eBook?
I don’t really distinguish between print or eBook for my TBR pile. I just read whatever format I can get my hands on (although preferably print).

3. How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
It definitely depends on my mood! Occasionally I will guilt myself into picking up a book that has been on my TBR pile for a LONG time….but if I’m not in the mood for it then I usually don’t end up enjoying it as much.

potato4. A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. This was the very first book that I ever put on my TBR list on Goodreads back in March of 2011, and I still haven’t read it!

hello5. A book you recently added to your TBR?
Most recently I added Hello, I Love You by Katie M. Stout. The comparison to Anna and the French Kiss caught my eye, and I love the fact that it takes place in Korea! Yay for a (tiny) bit of diversity!

ivan6. A book on your TBR strictly because of it’s beautiful cover.
I never put a book on my TBR only because it looks pretty. The synopsis definitely has to catch my attention too. That being said, a book on my TBR pile that is both beautiful and sounds interesting is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate.

7. A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading.
Sigh. There are too many to even name. I really need to go through my list and clean it up a bit. A lot of them are YA romances, and while I still enjoy YA romance, I’ve become pickier over the years about what I like and don’t like.

8. An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for.
Morning Star by Pierce Brown! I just finished the second book in the series last month, and the anticipation for the finale may just kill me!

ocean9. A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read but you.
The Ocean At the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman! I’ve owned this book for well over a year and yet I still haven’t gotten around to actually reading it!

10. A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you.
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett! This continues to be a really popular read at my library and I still haven’t gotten around to it yet. I watched the mini series and loved it, but the size of the book has me a bit intimidated.

11. A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read.
Pretty much all of them! Right now I would say I’m most anticipating getting around to City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennet, The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion and The Curse of the Pharaohs by Elizabeth Peters.

12. How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Right now there are 500, but I’m hoping to weed through it sometime soon!

  1. I think I have just over 600 books on my tbr list. Like you, I don’t know what I’d do without Goodreads and, yes, I need to whittle my books down too.

  2. There is already a cover for Morning Star?! I feel sooo behind with that series. I’ve yet to read the first one even though EVERYONE I know loves it. Must make time soon!
Loved your answers :). I try to go through my Goodreads TBR sometimes too and clean it up but then it just grows back. Ah well, a never-ending supply of good books is the least of our worries :).
